VIA Rail Canada today denied that its new Renaissance passenger cars are not accessible to handicapped individuals, after a claim made by an organization representing handicapped persons. VIA said in a release that while the new cars are not identical to others in its fleet, "they are accessible to passengers with mobility restrictions" and that all VIA's trains are accessible.
The House of Representatives has passed its transportation appropriations bill, which includes funding for many transit projects.
