December 6, 2001: Issue no. 640 of Rail Travel News is hot off the press, and mailing has begun.

     An Amtrak test train is planned to be run on December 20 from Louisville KY to Nashville TN, using the Kentucky Cardinal equipment. The event is invitation-only. Some of Nashville's most prominent rail passenger advocates have not been asked to participate.
     CSX says the trip will take about four hours each way, easily within the 13-hour layover time for the Kentucky Cardinal in Louisville.
     RTN has long expressed dismay that Amtrak has ignored Nashville, one of the prime tourist attractions of the US.--Gene Poon, Jim Russell.
